This monument was built 180 years ago in Qajar period and reconstructed in 1371 AH. This water reservoir, which is the most beautiful water reservoir in Yazd, was constructed by Haji Hossein Mirollah.
It was registered on March 24, 1978 in Iran’s National Heritage under the registration number of 1600.
Dolat Abad Garden is one of the old gardens of Yazd in Iran, and one of the highest brick wind catchers in the world, which is 33 meters and 80 centimeters high, has been built in it. The design of the garden is one of the most exquisite ones among the designs of Iranian gardens. Dolat Abad is as important as Fin Garden in Kashan and Shazadeh Garden in Kerman. Dolat Abad Garden of Yazd is one of the Iranian gardens registered in UNESCO World Heritage.
During New Year holidays, the garden hosts many people interested in nature and architecture. At least one thousand people visit the garden daily during that time.
This beautiful precious garden was registered on March 12, 1968 under the registration number of 774, and Pahlevanpoor Garden of Mehriz was registered on September 29, 2002 in Iran’s National Heritage. By international registration of these monuments, the first registration of Yazd’s international monuments was done.
Ancient icehouses are very interesting samples of old urban structures in Iran, which were constructed to store ice. Ice-houses consist of four basic parts as follows:
the Ice house, dome, main wall and a little pool. In Yazd province, during the winter when there was sufficient water, it was led to the little pools. During the night due to low temperatures the water of these pools used to freeze.
A tall wall surrounded the pool that prevented sunlight from getting to the ice and created a condition for ice-layers to thicken gradually at nights. Then the ice was broken and transferred to the ice-house underground where it was stored in summer.
This building comprises of a large and a small school. The small school has been built by Mohammad Taqi Khan son of Mirza Mohammad Baqer Bafqi known as great Khan who was progenitor of a dynasty named Khavanin-e-Yazd (Khans of Yazd). Ali-Naqi Khan son of Mohammad Taqi Khan has established the large school. The Khan School is situated outside the walls of Yazd.
This square is a collection that Mohammad Taqi Khan established with a harmonious design. There are shops in the form of arcade at the four corners of the square. The Shafe’iyeh School is located at the north east corner of the square. From this square one way leads to Qeisarieh and another to Rig Mosque.
This house was built in 1286 AH.by Hadji Mohammad Ebrahim Lari. They used to use this building as a house for Darvishes of the Ne’mat-o-Allahi sect in the past.
Its door, windows, sash windows and painted rooms decorated with mirrors, caused it to be one of the beautiful and splendid aristocratic houses of the thirteenth century AH.
This exceptional house was built in one of the important bazaars of Yazd about 120 years ago and belonged to Malekotojar. Malekotojar’s grandfather built the house by the name of Hadji Ali Asqar Shirazi. A Shirazi painter has adorned the rooms of the house.
In terms of style, these paintings resemble the paintings of the Narenjestan edifice of Shiraz.
This school was constructed by Shahabeddin Qasem Toraz and dates back to the 8th century AH. From the many ancient relics of the school only the north facade has survived. In place of the former school a mosque has been constructed and has six old inscriptions.
One of the distinctive features of the cities of Yazd province which discriminate it from other cities, is the existence of various wind trappers. Most of them belong to old residential houses.
On the other hand majority of urban reservoirs and mosques also have wind trapper. In other words the same are considered as respiratory tracts of the city. They are towers that, in respect to the special form of building, direct the natural air current to different sections of the building.
Regardless of its utility, these constructions used to represent the owner’s distinction and social standing. It could be judged by the height and adornments of these wind trappers.
